We asked Scott to share a few thoughts.
What does your average work day look like?
For the first couple of hours each morning, I spend time considering that for which I am grateful. I write in my journal and then meditate for 10 minutes. I try to learn or read something new each day, so I dedicate time each day to doing that.
Then I check my emails and text messages and prepare for the day. I have a list of “to-dos” that I work through as well as returning more emails, text messages and calls. In between all of this, I walk outside and try to get at least 5K steps in before heading home.
In the evening, I feed and walk the dog … got to get the remaining 5K steps in to hit 10K steps mark with FitBit! Then it is time to relax, which entails watching sports, ESPN or History Channel or reading.
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
Updating all our enterprise level servers and systems infrastructures, launching new training programs and courses for our Shopper Sciences Libraries and adding functionality for iOS and Android mobile devices access with “offline” download and play capabilities.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever heard?
Being successful is all about your attitude and desire to achieve. It’s a state of mind. Base your success on helping others to be successful.
If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be?
Learning new languages!
What was your very first job?
I had a paper route and sold “The Grit” newspaper door-to-door but my first paid hourly job was at age 15, “Detasseling Corn” for $2.15 per hour. What is it? Check it out…
