Over the last few months, we have introduced our Learning Evolution team.
Meet Bob Keahiloa Wong, our Skill UP!™ Master Black Belt, a consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry veteran, who has close on 40 years in various roles on both sides of the desk.
His experience and knowledge is vast as is his wisdom. Meet Bob!
What do you enjoy most about your job?
ʻike maka (to witness personally)
Being able to witness the impact we make every day with our clients.
The reward for training coaches and mentors is watching students grow in confidence, capability and perspective to help “raise the own bar” and becoming more effective, efficient and influential.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever heard?
A’o holomua ʻole (learn through failure)
Allow yourself and your team to fail! But learn from what has tripped you up. Permission to fail empowers you and others around you to get comfortable with the uncomfortable … and provided that you pivot to course correct and achieve the goal, growth and success will follow you.
What was your very first job?
Hale kūʻai nā pua (florist shop)
My first paid job was working at my uncle’s flower shop … which probably influenced my passion to master the art of Hawaiian lei making. Working for my uncle taught me responsibility, work ethics and the importance of understanding what your shoppers expect and need, which is critical to a retailer’s survival.
What are you passionate about?
Aloha aku, aloha mai (give aloha and it will return)
My passion is sharing aloha. While “aloha” means “hello” and “goodbye”, it has a much deeper meaning. Aloha is a way of life … helping others, having compassion, being humble, living with a positive mind and nurturing all things around you.
